Learn to Surf – News update!

Hope everyone enjoyed their trip this week, we had some glorious weather and quality waves (PERFECT COMBINATION!).

For anyone who wants to practice what they have learnt at camp, I highly recommend Cronulla beach as it is a short distance away from the city and it can be quiet when everywhere else is crowded. The Rip Curl store there has soft board hire for $20 a day and demo board hire for $40 a day! If anyone wants to have a look at the boards in the city, come and see us in the Rip Curl store on Market St. Our Surf Camp customers get huge discounts on beginner surfboard packages!

Surfing on the Internet – The Headlines:

1. Fergal Smith ‘Growing’ trailer.

You don’t have to lose your sponsors to become an eco-warrior, but it sure helps! This is a new web series featuring Irish charger Fergal Smith. The bi-monthly series takes us on Fergal’s journey through his twin passions for riding dredging Irish slabs and sustainable living through growing organic veg while taking care of the land he loves. Full story here.

2. Justine Dupont’s follow cam shoot at La Graviere (France)

“The guys are always a bit intrigued when they see a girl in the water at La Graviere when it’s heavy… I just try to make sure I don’t fall on my first wave, otherwise you’ll get dropped in on every time. The locals there don’t really gift me waves just coz I’m a girl or anything, but they’re friendly enough anyway, I guess they know me a bit by now. Read more here.

3. Stab Magazine Instagram competition

Social media really is the gift that keeps on giving. Stab Magazine have scooped some of their very favourite clips from (mostly) last week and cut a short compilation. Watch below. And, go follow the stars of the show for frequent hits of quality like this to your Instagram feed!

4. Teahupoo worst wipeout of 2013!

Who doesn’t love watching wipeouts? And, few places know how to drop the hammer like Chopes. This is real simple: It’s a compilation of the year’s best wipeouts at Tahiti’s most famous wave. You don’t need to know anything else.

5. Laura Enever latest webisode

Part 4 of 4: The final chapter of pro surfer Laura Enever’s four-part series closes at the final 2013 ASP World Surfing Tour event. A tough competition season leaves her soul searching, but at this final event, with her surf career on the line, she’s able to finally find the same passion and drive as when she first fell in love with the ocean and the waves. Laura finds inspiration from her fellow surfers to keep progressing to become the best as she fights to keep her place on the world tour.
