Learn to Surf News update! We have had some pretty wet weather over the last week in Sydney with a few beautiful days towards the end. That hasn’t stopped our customers from making the most of the waves generated by the winds. Who needs sunshine to surf!? We all get wet anyway!

I will say it again, for anyone who wants to practice what they have learnt at camp, I highly recommend Cronulla beach as it is a short distance away from the city and it can be quiet when everywhere else is crowded. The Rip Curl store there has soft board hire for $20 a day and demo board hire for $40 a day! If anyone wants to have a look at the boards in the city, come and see us in the Rip Curl store on Market St.

My favourite pics from Surf Camp last week:

Surfing on the Internet – The Headlines:

1. Red Bull Decades new Episode – The Town and Country Saint

This one deserves to take up ‘Pole Position’ in the list of videos this week. Red Bull has launched a webisode series documenting the change in technology of boards over the last century. It is truly worth a watch.

2. Gavin Beschen in ‘Coming of Ageless’

If you want to know what a BARREL looks like from a surfer’s perspective, check this clip out! Gavin is one of the best tube riders around. Here are some clips taken on the North Shore of Hawaii.

3. German surfer Nic Von Rupp in ‘My Road’ – Canaries

Yeah you read correctly, German surfer Nic Von Rupp! Rolling through the Canary Islands. Known to many as the European Hawaii, this place is epic. For our European guests, this is where you NEED to go on a surf trip when you eventually go back home.

4. Sydney waves pumping throughout the weekend

We definitely do not recommend trying to surf this spot! This wave is very hard to find and even more difficult to surf! However, this is what Sydney has to offer only a handful of surfers who are brave enough to surf it! This wave breaks over rocks and the consequences if you get it wrong are very high!

5. Surf in Munich airport!

Another one for our German guests! Munich airport played host to a Wave Pool competition which looked pretty fun! Let’s hope they set one up at Sydney International soon!

6. Surf, Skate & Snowboard in 1 day

There are only a few special places in the world where you can legitimately do this. America, France, Spain, New Zealand, AUSTRALIA. Bet you didn’t think Dubai was included in that list! Obviously the desert doesn’t offer many waves, or even snow! However, due to the genious of modern technology, people can visit artificial attractions within the country which offer all three activities. When you fly home, make sure you stop in and have a go!
