Last week, Surf Camp Australia hosted another complimentary Salt Water Dreaming camp, aimed at providing otherwise land-locked indigenous youths with a chance to learn to surf and live by the beach.
Check out the pics from the week below:
Below is what the team leader Lucy had to say about the experience:
“Another successful Salt Water Dreaming, YEW! That was an amazing three days of SURF, CULTURE and FRIENDSHIP.
Surf Camp Australia sponsored the camp and covered all costs of the camp. This makes such a huge difference to the work we do. Words cannot describe how thankful we are. We are so grateful to Surf Camp Australia. They are so well organised and professional. All the surf instructors not only run the lessons but really take the time to get to know the kids and make them feel safe and to insure they have an amazing time. Guy, Cody, Mitch, Sam and Patrick thank you so much for all your help.
This partnership was born through Surfing NSW taking an interest in our program and coming on board to support the work we do.
The camp also had some great workshops facilitated by National Parks and Wildlife. The kids got to learn all about hunting and all the different tools used. That night we sat around the camp fire and were mesmerised by Elder Julie’s Dhugan gambi biritch, Campfire yarns.
Another fantastic camp and we could not have done it without the dedication of three volunteers the amazing Janet from Jewish Aid and University Students Nikki and Megan, thank you girls for giving 200% of your energy and time.
And not to forget the incredible Kool Kids Team. When you go on a camp like this you feel really proud of the Kool Kids and the team that we have. Everyone works so hard and the team has so much insight and time for the kids. Thank you Mel, West and Matt for all your hard work. A big thank you to Mel for organising the camp.
Looking forward to the next Salt Water Dreaming, thank you to everyone for your support.
Surfs Up !”
