My favourite pics from Surf Camp this week:
Surfing on the Internet – The Headlines:
1. Nazare potentially records the world’s biggest wave ever surfed!
Carlos Burle has ridden possibly the biggest wave in history at big wave hot spot Nazare, Portugal. It’s the same place that Garrett McNamara caught his world record breaking 100-foot-wave earlier this year. Garrett was back for this session along with Sylvio Mancusi, Rodrigo Koxa, Felipe “Gordo” Cesarano, Hugo Vau, Eric Rebiere, Pedro Scooby and Andrew Cotton.
The tow session almost took a turn for the worst when Brazilian charger Maya Gabeira was knocked unconscious. After receiving CPR and coughing up a whole lot of water, Maya survived with just a broken ankle. Read more about the story here.
2. A taste of Indonesia
This is a short movie by filmer Darcy Ward. Shot in Indonesia around Bali, Darcy is always finding new hot prospect surfers t reveal to the world. This one goes by the name Conner O’leary and at 1:04 he completes a ‘rodeo flip to goat boat’ so it’s obvious he’s got SKILLS!
3. Cadbury’s tries surfing
A wonderful, magical place where everything is made from chocolate! Wouldn’t it be nice? Probably pretty sweaty actually, and of course everything would eventually melt (sorry the cynic rears her ugly head again!). No. It’s wonderful, magical, wonderful, magical… you will go and buy Cadbury’s. Again! I can’t help myself. Oh well, I guess I’ll just sink my lack-of-childhood-wonder sorrows with another.
4. Surf Camp Instructor/Sales Manager Mitch gets TUBED
Our very own Mitch Kenyon spent his whole morning down on the South Coast near Surf Camp catching some pretty scary waves! Whilst supposed to be helping his girlfriend move house up to Bondi (to officially become a ‘Hipster’), he snuck away for a few big ones! Check out the drop below, does he make it?? Check out the rest of the photos here.
